A Busy Summer
This past Spring I had all my plans set to work on my home. Sometimes I don't get the chance to work in my home
because I am busy helping others with theirs. Well, my best laid plans to get my house in order didn't work out!
My son graduated from high school and we had all the hoopla that goes along with that. Then, he and I headed to Nicaragua
with our church's youth for a mission trip. When we got back we packed him up and headed off to Florida State.
Upon returning, I had many clients to follow up with. The next thing I know I am again heading out on a mission trip
with my daughter to Alabama for a week. Upon our return I then had clients to see. My son came home from college
for a break and then we had to travel back to FSU for the fall term. My summer was based on growing relationships, not
stuff. I was able to do small tasks in between travels and clients, and I have always felt that a home is never
finished because our relationships with family and friends are so much more important. What is important to you?

Three Gifts
The holidays have arrived and I'm in gift-thinking mode. My kids (16 and soon to be 18) have
grown up much too quickly now that I think about it. I remember when the holiday catalogs would arrive in the mail
and my children couldn't wait to put their mark on all the things they would like to get for Christmas. It's
amazing how times change. I have been asking them for the last two weeks to put some sort of a wish list together so
I'll have some idea of what to get them. Perhaps they've come to the realization that things are not as important
as what the season is all about. After all, Jesus received only three gifts for His birthday.

Scattergories or Categories?
While working with a client we found information pertaining to the same subject in three different
places. There was a folder located in the bottom desk drawer, the top desk drawer, and the kitchen desk drawer, all
with the same title. This is called "scattergories" because a portion of information was found in
three separate locations. Does this sound efficient? Let me say I'm not recommending it. How do you
know what is where? Efficiency happens when like items or items that work together live together in the same area.
Think of all the running around "scattergories" can cause. I don't know about you, but I want to do the
least amount of work to get the most done!

Don't Leave Without Something
I know you've heard the American Express trademark saying, "Don't leave home without
it." Change the saying to "Don't leave the room without it!" and you will get more accomplished.
I have always been pretty good about looking around a room to see if there was something I could deliver to another part of
my home, but one day last week I made a conscious effort to take things with me that didn't belong in a particular room,
just to see what would happen. (I've got two dogs, two cats, and two kids so things are constantly travelling around
my home! My house is just like everyone elses!) I was pleasantly amazed to see how much got done without officially
working on a project. Now if I can just get my dogs, cats, and kids to do the same!

Crabs Are Organized Creatures!
While sitting on the beach at New Smyrna recently, I was able to watch some of the fearsome
sand crabs that felt safe enough to emerge from the holes they had created. I obviously couldn't see what their
tasks were on the inside of these sandy tubes, but I was able to observe what they brought out. With their huge claws,
these crabs would work diligently to form a sandball that would then be carefully brought to the surface of the beach and
finally thrown away from the sandy hole. While I was sitting there, I realized these creatures totally understand the
meaning of purging! I imagined they have a very pristine sand tube, keeping only what was beautiful and useful.
Clutter of any kind was discarded so that these crabs could enter or exit without any difficulty and still be safe.
What a smart bunch of organized creatures!
